Sunday, 3/25, Dallas, Texas
Sunday brought a day started with the free breakfast at our hotel and lots of stretching as I tried to overcome my aching back from sleeping on a worn-out bed! Last spring took us to Disney World, Sea World, Universal Park so of course this year the kids wanted to hit at least one amusement park. Six Flags Over Texas was where we headed today and let me say this, avoid this place at all costs if you ever find yourself in Dallas. Talk about an overpriced carnival! After a delight tour of SMU, where #1 went to school, we got there with less than half the day left and still had to pay full price with no break for our 6 or 8 year old. About $50.00 a ticket which brought several roller coasters and lots of booths where you could spend even more money. They even have the audacity to charge $8.00 extra for kids to ride on a small go-kart track. Trash and gum was plastered everywhere and doesn't seem to have been removed for years. Some of the gum on the rides looked like it was petrified! The one funny thing that came out of the whole day was when #1 asked my little boy where his sense of adventure was, he's not big on fast rides unlike his sister, which he responded promptly with, "I left it at the hotel". If you don't get anything else out of this post just remember to avoid Six Flags. When we got back to our room I popped the cork on another Sauvignon Blanc, the 2005 Meridian, and have to say it was very similar to the one the night before. A little more grapefruit on the nose but the citrus, melon and a little vanilla showed up on the tongue. I gave this one 3 corkscrews as well as I paid about $7.99/bottle and at that price I couldn't give it more than 3. The trip continues. Sit Long, Talk Much, Laugh Often, Drink Wine!
